The Lady Vandal volleyball team won a battle of two strong Fayette County programs in the season opener for both, beating St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-22, 25-21 Thursday night. The win was the first of the season and also the first win for Coach Amanda Walton. And Walton says it felt good to get the win after the girls overcame early struggles.
St. Elmo-Brownstown also saw some struggles during the first set of the match. And, Coach Elise Asher says she will look for the girls to play more physical as they get more into the season.
For Vandalia in the match, Jalea Paslay had 4 kills while Molly Kern and Madison Klanke each tallied 2 kills apiece. Rylee Wollerman had 2 aces and Sydnee Austin had 4 assists.
