An accident on Interstate 70 in Fayette County Wednesday afternoon led to multiple individuals being taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and also led to a traffic back up for a time. Illinois State Police Reports indicate that a vehicle driven by 53 year old Bryan R. Giannini of York, Pennsylvania crossed in the center median on Interstate 70 eastbound at Mile Post 57, about 4 miles west of Vandalia’s west interchange. State Police say Giannini’s vehicle then crossed back into the eastbound lanes. The vehicle then rolled over on its passenger side and was struck in the right lane of eastbound I-70 by a tractor-trailer being driven by 40 year old Jeremy D. Jackson of Springfield, Missouri. Both Giannini and a passenger, 53 year old Anna Peirce Giannini, were both taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment of injuries. Meanwhile, Bryan R. Giannini was ticketed for improper lane usage and the both Bryan and Anna Giannini were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. The accident led to a back up of traffic on the eastbound lanes and led to traffic being diverted off at the Mulberry Grove exit for a time Wednesday afternoon.
