(Chicago, IL) — Police arrested 22-senior-citizen demonstrators this morning for blocking traffic on Michigan Avenue as they protested cuts in state social service budgets. The chanting and singing seniors were demanding that Governor Rauner and lawmakers undo planned cuts to programs including home health aides, Meals on Wheels and physical therapy assistance. The people arrested were briefly detained on the sidewalk, given a citation, and then released.
