Junior A. Gelsinger, 78, of Brownstown passed away at 1:26am, Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his home in Brownstown.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Pilcher Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm, Friday, August 21, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the family of Junior Gelsinger. Online condolences available at
Junior was born February 8, 1937 in rural Bluff City, the son of James and Naomi (Carrico) Gelsinger. He married Jo Ann Grotts October 1, 1955 in Bluff City. Junior was employed by the State of IL Hwy Dept. before working and retiring from Taylor Ready Mix in Vandalia; after he retired he worked for Mid-State Campers in Bluff City. Junior was a member of the NRA and the Country Echoes Music Club, he loved woodworking, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, dancing and his animals.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Gelsinger of Brownstown; sons Jimmy Joe Gelsinger of Brownstown and Stanley Gelsinger of Vandalia; daughters Joyce Frailey with Cary Bare of Kinmundy, Janet Sturgeon of Brownstown, Lisa Gelsinger with Rob Wuehler of St. Elmo, and Jessica and husband TW Branham of St. Elmo; grandchildren Chad, Jamie, Logan Jr., Anthony, Heather, Cody, Shelby, Misti, Andy, Dustin, Dalton, Brittney, Kaytee, Trynitee; great grandchildren Megan, Hunter, Ashton, Hailey, Olivia, Zach, Kassidy, Emaleah, Dylan, Evan, Addysin, Zoey, Annabelle, soon to be born Tyler, Kirsten, Shelby, and Dylan; brother Bob Gelsinger; sister Ilene and husband Mervin Kleinik; brother-in-law George Grotts and wife Mabeth; sister-in-law Rosalee and husband Jim Grubaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother Charles Gelsinger; son-in-law Logan Frailey Sr.; grandson J.R. Gelsinger; mother and father-in-law, Alva and Joe Grotts; brothers-in-law Kenneth Grotts and Herman Ritchey; sisters-in-law Evelyn Barbour, Betty Gelsinger, and Helen Gelsinger Holland; several aunts and uncles.
