(Springfield, IL) — A bill could be introduced in Springfield today that would try to end the way the state funds education in the next two years. “The Chicago Tribune” reports Illinois Senate President John Cullerton wants to pass legislation that would freeze the property tax for two years and create a panel of lawmakers to design a new way to fund public schools. If a new solution is not found by June of 2017, the current system would be repealed.
