South Central grad Spencer Patton made a return to the Majors last week and has had two quality relief appearances. The Texas Rangers recalled Patton from Triple A Round Rock last Thursday and Patton immediately saw action, throwing an inning and a third against the Oakland Athletics facing a minimum four batters and not allowing a single walk or hit. Patton followed up that appearance, pitching an inning on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Once again, Patton held batters hitless in his appearance while inducing two groundouts and a flyout in the scoreless seventh inning. With his two and a third scoreless innings in the last two appearances, Patton’s ERA has dropped from 9.00m where it stood after his previous run in the Majors, to 5.06.
